Moorestown Wins Under the Lights

Wednesday, May 6, 1998

By Gary Steiner

The Moorestown Lady Quakers visited the Delran Lady Bears to play a game under the lights. This was Moorestown's only night game of the season, so it would be interesting to see if Delran could take advantage of the experience. Both teams were looking to improve their playoff seeding with a win, as pairings would be based on all games played as of May 6th.

Dusk had not quite fallen, so the effect of the lights would not be felt right away. The game started out slow, with each team turning the ball over several times. Moorestown opened the scoring with a goal by Colleen Connors, quickly followed with a score by Kate Slotman.

Bishop Eustace Scores Another Win

Monday, April 27, 1998

By Art Redd

With Bishop Eustace sitting comfortably on top of the Olympic Conference National Division, visiting Camden Catholic would seem to be just another win in the standings. Bishop Eustace was undefeated in their division and planning on keeping it that way. The Crusaders would go with starting pitcher Mike Maley who was in search of his fourth win. He would not get that win as Camden Catholic knocked him out of the game in the third inning. Bishop Eustace would get the win though, as they made due on every oppurtunity to take a 13-5 triumph over Camden Catholic.

The name of the game was defense, as Shawnee and Moorestown fought it out in a meeting of the two remaining undefeated teams in the Olympic Conference. This game most likely would set the tone for the playoffs, where there is a good chance they will meet again.

Cherokee's Singley Shuts Out West

Wednesday, April 22, 1998

By Crystal Parker

Just imagine walking up into the batter's box and preparing yourself to face a pitcher who has thrown all of her pitches over the plate with high velocity. Each one thrown would be called a strike by the umpire. So you dig your cleats into the dirt and prepare yourself for a duel with this pitcher. Well that's what Cherokee and Cherry Hill West batters were ready to do. As the game started, both teams would see nothing but strikes from Cherokee's MariEllen Singley and West's Jamie Elias. But it would be the Chiefs who would open up the scoring and beat West 12-0 at Cherry Hill.
