South Jersey Ice Hockey: Hollydell Hurricanes Bantan A Winding Down Successful Season Sunday, February 18, 2001 By Brad Park The Hollydell Hurricanes Banatm A team is completing it's first season as a member of the New Jersey Youth Hockey League. In it's first seaon, the Hurricanes compiled at 10-9-5 record for 25 points. The highlights of the season were a 2-1 win over the American Eagle (15-7-0), 5-4 victory over the JR. Phantom ( 18-5-0) and a recent win over the Legion "AA" Bantam Minor hockey team 4-3. |
High School Ice Hockey: South Jersey High School Ice Hockey Final Four Preview Saturday, February 17, 2001 By Mike Costantino The semi-finals are set for the SJHSIHL and there was only one surprise of the four teams that are in is Shawnee who upset Cinnaminson. With the win, the Renegades gets to challenge Washington Township and in a rematch from last years semifinals. Eastern will take on defending league champion Clearview. High School Ice Hockey: Clearview Blanks Cherry Hill To Move Into Semi-finals Friday, Februay 16, 2001 By Mike Costantino Mike Gooch scored twice, Rob Coble and Mike Cargill also tallied as Clearview defeated Cherry Hill East 4-0 in a quarterfinal game played Friday night at Hollydell. With the win, Clearview moved into the semi-finals in a rematch from last year against the Eastern Vikings. After a scoreless first period which saw Clearview shorthanded for the last six minutes, Gooch scored in the first minute of the second period beating East goalie Brandon Ramsay to give Clearview the 1-0 lead. Ramsay was the lone bright spot for East, as he kept his team close for most of the game. East's offense could only muster fourteen shots on goal. |
High School Ice Hockey: Township Breezes Past Rancocas Valley, Shawnee Next Friday, February 16, 2001 By Mike Costantino Washington Township flew past Rancocas Valley 11-2 as Joe Gori scored three goals, Steve Brown added two goals and three assists to pace the balance scoring attack of the Minutemen as they continue their quest for the title and remained undefeated in league play. Buddy Anderson chipped in with two goals and two assists and Adam Zaccaria added two goals. Kyle Tuliano and Van Daele scored the goals for Rancocas. The game was scoreless for the first seven minutes as Township looked to gather its legs. But once Township started scoring, they just come at you in waves. |

The Holy Cross boys walked away with the championship at the Burlington County Scholastic League Tournament, held yeasterday at the Maple Bowl in Pennsauken. The boys came on especially strong, beating second place Northern Burlington by 49 pins. The Lancers' John Butt tossed a 289 in the second game.
