Cummings Wins Pitcher's Duel Against Cherokee
Monday, May 7, 2001
By Vincent Lewis
The Cherokee Chiefs baseball team arrived at Highland High School with an impressive 11-2 record and onto top of the Olympic Conference, Patriot Division. Right behind them were the Tartans, getting a chance to increase their divisional record to 5-2 and capturing a tie with the Chiefs. Dane Mason was very impressive getting the start against Highland (10-4), but Mike Cummings matched his opponent keeping the Chiefs off the scoreboard. Cummings pitched a complete game shut out, striking out 10 batters on route to a 2-0 win at home.
