Thursday, May 24, 2001
By Gary Steiner
The blue skies made it a great day to play lacrosse after so many days of clouds and rain. The Lady Quakers of Moorestown (19-0) ended up raining goals on the Moorestown Friends Lady Foxes (10-3) to win this second round game 19-2. Moorestown will play Camden Catholic (who defeated St. John Vianney 17-7) next in their pursuit to repeat as state champions.

Moorestown's Pitching Staff Highlights Playoff Win
Wednesday, May 23, 2001
By Vincent Lewis
Moorestown was able to finally play baseball with their extended layoff. The weather didn't help with more rain in the forecast. Today, this game would be played as Woodstown and host Moorestown participated in a South Jersey Group 2 playoff game. The Quakers would use three pitchers in their first round playoff game and a fifth inning homerun by Luke Hadden highlighted Moorestown's 4-1 victory at home.

The 20 Something Strikeout Artists
Wednesday, May 23, 2001
By Charlie Schick
On Tuesday night, May 8, 2001, a 6'10" flame-thrower by the name of Randy Johnson used his slider and blazing fastball to register 20 strikeouts against the Cincinnati Reds. Thus, the Arizona Diamondbacks ace southpaw became the third major league hurler and first left-hander to strike out 20 batters in nine innings. He will, however, not go into the record books as doing so, because he left the contest tied 1 to 1 after 9 innings and since the Diamondbacks won the game 4 to 3 in 11 innings, his totals will be imprisoned in the extra innings records.

Pennsauken Upsets Highland In Playoff Action
Tuesday, May 22, 2001
By Crystal Parker
Tiffany Frick had a lot of confidence stepping onto the pitching mound for Pennsauken during a South Jersey Group 4 softball game at Highland High School. Not only was her team riding a five game winning streak going into this first round playoff game, but also privileged to see her team score two important runs in the top of the first inning. Pennsauken, behind their great defensive plays, would hold off a seventh inning rally to defeat the Lady Tartans 3-1 and advance to the semi-finals against Millville.
