South Jersey Soccer: Piedmont Spark bests South Jersey Banshees 2-1 Saturday, June 23, 2001 By Forrest Robleto On a hot and muggy Saturday afternoon with a threat of rain, the Banshees returned home to face the Piedmont Spark in women's soccer action. Although the Banshees had the edge throughout the day and manpower edge for most of the day, the Spark came away with the win. The Banshees opened the scoring at the nine minute mark with a pretty pass from Carlie Lloyd to Adrienne Dugandzic who made no mistake from about six yards out. The Banshees continued to dominate and at the 24 minute mark a Spark's midfielder Adrienne Barnes left the game with a red card. The Banshees continued to dominate and finished the half up 1-0 on shots of 5-2. |
South Jersey Soccer: South Jersey Barons Defense Rips Rhode Island For Revenge In The Rain, 8-1 Saturday, June 23, 2001 By Forrest Robleto Defensemen Kevin Kelly and Kim Harvey got a combined seven goals in a game that featured several torrential downpours, to defeat the Rhode Island Rays 8-1. The South Jersey Barons were just back from a three week road trip and a 5-1 loss to the Rhode Island Rays. The Barons were playing in the second game of a soccer double header. In the first game the South Jersey Banshees lost to the Piedmont Spark 2-1. The women played in intermittent rain but by the time the men took the field the skies looked ominous. |
