Thunder Advance to Playoffs with 7-5 Win

Trailing 5-0 after three innings, the Thunder rallied with seven unanswered runs, capped by a three-run 7th Inning homer from 1B Shelley Duncan in a 7-5 win over Harrisburg on Sunday night. the win vaults Trenton (73-68) into the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Harrisburg (64-77) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead three batters into the game. After hits by CF Melvin Dorta and SS Josh Labandeira, 2B Dan DeMent launched a three-run homer off Thunder starter Eric Schmitt for the early lead. Labandeira and DeMent added solo homers in the 3rd Inning for a 5-0 lead.

Rutgers-Camden Soccer Team Posts 9-0 Win over York College

Sophomore midfielder Rob Gambino scored two goals and added two assists and junior midfielder Ian Simmons had one goal and two assists to power the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team over York (NY) College, 9-0, in a non-conference game here Saturday. The nine goals scored were the most scored by the Scarlet Raptors since a 9-0 victory over Valley Forge Christian, September 22, 2001.

Sophomore forward Rodney Guishard (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) collected the game-winning goal on a tough-angle shot near the baseline with 18:07 remaining and sophomore midfielder Pat Baldiserra (Milmay, NJ/Buena Regional) notched a pair of assists as the Rutgers University-Camden men’s soccer team outlasted pre-season 22nd-ranked Elizabethtown College, 2-1, in the season opener for both teams here Thursday.
