Thunder Fall in 10th, 4-2

New Hampshire pushed across two unearned runs in the 10th Inning to beat the Thunder, 4-2, on Thursday night. 3B Eric Arnold led the Fisher Cats offense with three hits, including the go-ahead RBI double in the tenth. Trenton (32-33) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with single runs in the 1st and 5th Innings off Fisher Cats starter David Purcey. Dh randy Ruiz drove in both runs with an RBI double in the first and a run-scoring single in the fifth. But New Hampshire (29-34) came back with runs in the 6th and 7th Innings off Matt DeSalvo to tie the game. CF Justin Singleton palted the first run with an RBI single. Erik Kratz's RBI groundout tied the game up. DeSalvo allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings with no walks and six strikeouts, while Purcey allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Bats Alive, But Thunder Fall 9-4

New Hampshire collected seven extra base hits, including six doubles, off Trenton pitching in a 9-4 win over the Thunder on Wednesday night. The loss snapped a three-game Trenton win streak. Trenton (32-32) scored runs in the first two innings against Fisher Cats starter Kyle Yates for the early lead. 2B Gabe Lopez tripled and scored in the 1st Inning and then drove in SS J.T. Stotts with an RBI single in the second. But Yates settled down and held the Thunder to those two runs over seven innings. Yates (3-5) allowed nine hits with no walks and three strikeouts for the win.

Hughes Helps Thunder to 3-0 Win

Phil Hughes tossed seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts as the Trenton Thunder blanked New Hampshire, 3-0, Tuesday night in Eastern League play. The shutout was the sixth of the year for the Thunder (32-31). Both starting pitchers, Hughes and Kurt Isenberg of New Hampshire, kept the teams off the scoreboard throught the first four innings. Trenton scored the first run of the night in the 5th Inning. After a leadoff walk and a single, 3B Kevin Howard singled home 1B Eric Duncan for the lead. But the rally was cut down as C Omir Santos hit into a triple play on a ground ball to New Hampshire 3B Brad Hassey.
