Childers Shutout Helps Thunder to DH Split

Matt Childers tossed a four-hit shutout to help Trenton to a 3-0 win over Reading in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Reading won the opener by a 2-0 score in 11 innings. The Thunder (78-62) took a 1-0 lead in the nightcap in the 2nd Inning. With two outs, 3B J.T. Stotts singled and moved to 2nd Base on a walk by C Jason Brown. 2B Grant Plumley followed with an RBI single. The lead went to 2-0 in the 4th Inning as the Thunder scored on an error by Reading 3B Joey Hammond. The third run came home in the 5th Inning thanks to a Shelley Duncan sacrifice fly.

Surf Defeated the Riversharks in Dramatic Fashion

The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Camden Riversharks in dramatic fashion Thursday night at Bernie Robbins Stadium 4-3. The winning margin was provided by a solo homerun off the bat of Clyde Williams in the bottom of the eighth inning off Camden's Chris Fussell. Williams' blast, his 18th, sent the Surf into first place by a half game over Camden in the race for the South Division second half title. Atlantic City is now 56-49 overall and 23-19 in the second half. Camden is 51-55 overall and 23-20 in the second half.

Thunder Earn 1st Northern Division Title Since '99

The Thunder used a pair of shutouts, giving them a franchise-record 18 for the season, to sweep a doubleheader from Erie on Wednesday and win the Northern Division Title. The win gives Trenton, a team that started the season losing their first 10 games, their first Northern Division Title since 1999. Trenton will host the Northern Division Championship series starting next Wednesday and Thursday at Waterfront Park. Games #1 and #2 will both be 7:05 PM starts.

Surf and Camden Split a Doubleheader

The Atlantic City Surf and the Camden Riversharks plit a doubleheader at Bernie Robbins Stadium Wednesday night. Atlantic City won the first game 2-1 and Camden won the second 4-3. Camden is now 23-19 in the second half; Atlantic City is 22-19. The Riversharks are in first place by a slim 1/2 game in the race for the South Division second half championship. In the first game Lincoln Mikkelsen pitched the Surf to a 2-1 victory as only allowed five hits in seven innings of work. The margin of victory was provided by Atlantic City's Dario Delgado who slammed a solo homer off Camden's starter and loser John McDonald in the sixth innings. McDonald allowed two runs on eights hits and fell to 8-5.

Escalona's Six RBI Lead Thunder to Win, Magic Number at "2"

Felix Escalona led a 14-hit attack with three hits, including a home run, and six RBI as the Thunder beat Erie, 11-2, on Tuesday night. Every starter collected a hit in the victory. The win puts Trenton's Magic Number to win the Northern Division at "2" going into tomorrow's action. The Thunder can clinch it themselves with a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 5:35 PM. Phil Hughes (9-3, 2.35) and Francisco Butto (1-2, 3.43) will start the games for Trenton.
