The Pennsylvania Road Warriors were able to avoid the sweep as they shut out the Atlantic City Surf 2-0 at Sandcastle Stadium on Thursday night. Pennsylvania scored the first run of the ballgame in the eighth using three straight two-out singles. They tacked on an insurance run in the ninth with a solo homerun by Rob Cafiero.
The Surf wasted a good start by Rob Corrado. He pitched six scoreless innings, striking out nine and allowing only four hits. Reliever Ned Darley suffered the loss after allowing the RBI single to Brady Williams. Corrado was out dueled by Road Warriors starter Julian Herredia who picked up just his second win. Herredia went eight shutout innings allowing five hits.
The Surf host the Bridgeport Bluefish Friday night. Fireworks will follow the game courtesy of Conectiv. Game time is 6:35pm. The Surf will send Anthony Chavez to the mound against the Bluefish.
