Surf Season Ends with 9-4 Loss to Camden

The Atlantic City Surf fell to the Camden Riversharks Wednesday night 9-4, in front of 3,205 at Sandcastle Stadium. The win gives the Riversharks the sweep of the best-of-three series and they will play the winner of the Nashua vs. Long Island series.

Camden struck first with three runs in the second inning with three consecutive RBI singles by Tony Rodriguez, Quincy Foster, and Brad Strauss. Rodriguez had four hits and drove in three runs, including a solo homer in the five run sixth. Tom Hage had three hits for the Riversharks and drove in two. Starter Ben Simon earned the win with seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out four.

Surf starter Archie Corbin suffered the loss, going five and a third allowing seven runs on eight hits. He struck out seven but walked four and threw two wild pitches. Ben Candelaria provided most of the offense for the Surf. He had three hits including a solo homerun. Carlos Adolfo drove in two runs without at hit and Eddie Lara provided a pinch hit single to drive in the other Surf run.

The Surf finished the regular season with a 71-54 record.
