ATLANTIC CITY- The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Atlantic City Surf 6-4 on Tuesday at Bernie Robbins Stadium in front of a crowd of 1,022. Gary Johnson and Clyde Williams each homered for the Surf, but it was not enough for the victory.

Barnstormer starter Denny Harriger got the win as he hurled seven and a third innings and allowed four runs, improving his record to 7-1. Atlantic City’s reliever Leo Estrella was charged with the loss, giving up two runs and the lead in the eighth. Surf starter pitched well, going six and a third innings giving up four runs and striking out three.

Johnson led off the fourth inning with a monster blast to center field, his third of the year, to start the Surf scoring. Two innings later Clyde Williams hit his seventh home run of the year, a three-run shot to right field, off Harriger. The Barnstormers broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth when Jose Ortiz doubled and hit home teammate Reggie Taylor. Ortiz was then hit home two batters later by Lance Burkhart.

The Surf and Barnstormers continue their four-game series tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. at Bernie Robbins Stadium. Lincoln Mikkelsen will take the mound for Atlantic City, fresh off his no-hitter last week, as he faces off against Lancaster’s Cameron Smith.
