South Jersey Baseball:
Bases Loaded Walks Send Camden Past Nashua, 4-3

Wednesday, July 28, 2004

By Don Delaney
Camden Riversharks Media Relations Manager

Quincy Foster drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the Camden Riversharks their third-straight victory with a 4-3 win over Nashua on Wednesday night at Campbell ’s Field.  The win pulled the Riversharks within one game of .500 at 6-7 in the second half.

The Riversharks were able to carry over the momentum from its previous to victories as it built an early 2-0 lead with a run in the second inning and one in the third.  However, Carlos Rodriguez’s two run home run over the left field wall in the top of the fourth knotted the game at 2-2.

Rodriguez’s lead off double in the top of the seventh inning put the Pride in position to take the lead.  After Rodriguez moved to third on a ground out by Mike Figga, newly acquired Chris Peterson ripped a single to right field to plate Rodriguez with his second run of the game, which gave Nashua a 3-2 lead.

The Riversharks threatened to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning as they used a pair of Nashua errors to load the bases with one out.  Troy Cameron then bounced into a 6-3 doubleplay to end the scoring opportunity.

Trailing by a run in the bottom of the ninth, the Riversharks would not go quietly into the night as they used a one-out RBI single by Kevin Jordan to score Quincy Foster and send the game into extra innings.

Ryan Jones, Dwight Maness and Stoney Briggs each had two hits for Camden .

The Riversharks meet the Nashua Pride in the middle game of a three-game series on Thursday, July 29 at Campbell ’s Field.  Ben Simon is the scheduled starter for Camden when the game starts at 6:35 p.m.  The game will feature fireworks after the contest for all fans in attendance. Tickets are available for all Riversharks home games and can be purchased by calling (856) 963-2600, on the web at www.riversharks.com or by visiting the Campbell ’s Field ticket office during normal business hours.
