South Jersey Baseball:
Riversharks Get Walkoff Win to End Series

Monday, August 2, 2004

By Don Delaney
Camden Riversharks Media Relations Manager

Quincy Foster delivered Stoney Briggs with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Camden Riversharks finished a nine-game homestand with a 2-1 win over the Pennsylvania Road Warriors at Campbell ’s Field on Monday night.

One night before heading on a critical three-game road trip at Somerset, the Riversharks tallied just five hits, but chipped away with a Troy Cameron sixth inning home run to win their eighth game of the second half.

Joe Strong picked up his second win of the year as he pitched a perfect tenth inning and struck out to batters.  Ramon Linares was tagged with the loss after getting out of a ninth inning jam.

The Road Warriors lone run came in the top of the second inning as Melvin Falu singled home Ramiro Chamizo with one of his third hits on the night.

Gloucester Catholic product Jaime Steward had a successful first outing in the Camden rotation as he allowed just four hits and struck out six in six innings of work.  The bullpen relieved Steward in the seventh as Blas Cedeno, Todd Rizzo and Strong tossed four innings of scoreless relief.

The Riversharks hit the road for a crucial three-game series on Tuesday, August 3.  Camden will play a three-game set against Southern Division leader Somerset .
