Trenton Thunder Director of Broadcasting

Matt De Salvo followed rehabbing Yankees pitcher Felix Rodriguez with eight shutout of "relief" in a 2-0 Thunder win on Sunday afternoon. It was the 8th shutout by the Thundere team in the 2005 season.

Rodriguez worked a scoreless inning on his second rehab stint with Trenton. He allowed one hit with one hit. DeSalvo (6-3) followed by retiring his first 17 batters faced in the game. The first base runner was Simon Pond on a single in the 7th Inning. DeSalvo allowed one hit in relief with no walks and four strikeouts. He has allowed one earned run in 19 2/3 innings against the Baysox this season.

Trenton (49-45) scored their only runs in the 3rd Inning off Bowie starter Kurt Birkins. RF Bronson Sardinha led off the inning with a walk. 2B Yobal Duenas followed with a line drive to right that went past Woody Cliffords for a triple and an RBI. Duenas scored later in the play as Cliffords made an errant throw back to the infield.

Birkins (5-7) gave up two runs on four hits in six innings for the loss. He walked three and struck out eight. The Baysox (45-48) had only on base runner reach 2nd Base on the afternoon. CF Peter Bergeron singled to start the game and advanced to 3rd Base later in the inning.

The Thunder begin a six-game road trip in Harrisburg on Monday. Game time is 6:35 PM. Grant Roberts (0-0, 9.00) will make his second start for Trenton. David Maust (2-1, 2.23) starts for the Senators.
