Thunder Blank Fisher Cats, 8-0

(Manchester, NH)- Trenton used a balanced attack, which included a three-run homer from Shelley Duncan and three hits from Gabe Lopez, in an 8-0 win over New Hampshire on Wednesday night.

The Thunder (56-54) scored three runs in the 1st Inning off Fisher Cats starter David Purcey. He loaded the bases on two walks and a Michael Coleman single. Eric Duncan then drew a walk to force in a run. Omir Santos followed with a two-run single for a 3-0 lead. The Thunder added a run in the 2nd Inning as Ramiro Pena scored on a passed ball by New Hampshire C Erik Kratz. Purcey (0-2) allowed four runs (three earned) in five innings for the loss.

Thunder starter Danny Borrell, starting for the first time in 2 1/2 months, worked four shutout innings with one walk and six strikeouts. Ben Julianel (3-2) followed with three shutout innings of relief for the win. Michael Brunet finished out the game with two scoreless innings. It was the 9th shutout of the year for Trenton. The Fisher Cats (52-57) only threat came in the 3rd Inning, but they left the bases loaded.

The Thunder capped off the night in the 9th Inning with a three-run homer from Shelley Duncan off Fisher Cats reliever Bubbie Buzachero. It was Duncan's 27th homer of the year, which leads the Eastern League.

The series finale is Thursday at 6:35 PM. Steven White (0-3, 7.29) starts for the Thunder against New Hampshire's Vince Perkins (3-6, 4.12).
