The USP men's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-3 win over host Eastern University on Saturday.

The Devils split their six singles matches with Eastern, winning the #3, #4 and #6 singles. Olufemi Ogunkorode defeated Eric Bowe 6-0, 6-3 to take the #3 singles while Dan Lewycky took the #4 singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Brian McClincey. Yusuf Hassanali won at #6 singles, defeating James Berg, 6-2, 6-3.

The 3-3 split put pressure on the Devils for the doubles matches. USP needed to win two of the three doubles matches to earn the one point for the doubles and win the contest. Amit Ray and Ogunkorode defeated John Moyer and Bowe 8-6 to win the #1 doubles. Meanwhile Ryan Pell and Lewycky were losing at #2 doubles, 8-2 to Nate Siefert and Michael Guernsey. Dave Sen and Nirav Pandya teamed up at #3 doubles to defeat McClincey and Berg 8-4 for USP's second doubles win, giving the Devils the one point they needed to win the match, 4-3.
