The USP men’s basketball team connected on just nine of 31 shots from the field in the second half as the Felician College Golden Falcons handed the Devils their fourth consecutive loss, 66-55 in Rutherford New Jersey earlier tonight.

The Devils finished the game shooting just 31.7% for the game (19-60) and were an uncharacteristic 53.3% from the free throw line, missing 12 free throws (7-for-19) in the second half.

USP led by two at the half, 29-27 and were tied at 37-37 with 15:08 to go when Felician went on a 7-1 run to take a 44-38 lead at the 12:22 mark. Gene Willard's (Sr., Cardinal O'Hara HS/ Broomall, PA) three-point field goal pulled the Devils within three, 44-41 at the 10:21 mark but the Devils failed to score on their next five possessions. Meanwhile Felician converted on four of their next six possessions to take a 52-41 lead with 7:29 to go. Chris Dougherty's (Sr., Haverford HS/Haverford, PA) layup at the 7:13 mark broke the scoring drought.

Felician added a three-point field goal to take their biggest lead of the game, 55-43 just 23 seconds later. USP then went on a 7-2 run to pull within seven 57-50 at the 3:52 mark. A free throw by Willard , a layup by Bill Kurtz (So., Shawnee HS/Shamong, NJ) and a pair of layups by Chris Brattelli (Sr., Highland Regional HS/Clementon, NJ) highlighted the run. USP would later cut the deficit to five, 60-55 with 2:02 remaining but that was as close as the Devils would get as the Golden Falcons scored the final six points of the game to earn the 66-55 win.

Brattelli led the Devils with 16 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the field. Willard added 15 points and nine rebounds to join Brattelli in double figures. USP had a season low five assists on their 19 field goals and were outrebounded 39-30.

The Devils are now 6-11 overall and 5-6 in league play. USP returns home to the Bobby Morgan Arena on Saturday, January 29, 2005 when they take on Post University.
