Philadelphia - University of the Sciences cross country runner Joy Aifuwa (Edison High School/Edison, NJ) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending September 24, 2006.
In earning the award for the second time this season, Aifuwa took fourth place overall at Saturday’s Philadelphia Metro Championship leading the Devils to a fifth place finish amongst the 16 complete teams.
Aifuwa, a junior pharmacy major, completed the 5,000 meter course in 20:49.76, finishing 1:14 behind overall winner Karen Ziga of Franklin and Marshall.
The former Edison High School athlete is in her third season of competition for the Devils. In 2005, she earned Runner of the Week honors five times and finished 3rd at the 2005 CACC Championships earning All Conference honors for the second consecutive year.
Next up for the Devils will be the Belmont Classic, hosted by Cabrini College at Belmont Plateau on Saturday, September 30, 2006.
