Cross Country Spotlight:
Willey and Willard Earn All-CACC Honors
Devils Place Seventh at Conference Meet

Nick Willey and Matt Willard finished in the top ten overall at today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship at Carousel Park in Wilmington, Delaware as the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia men's cross country team placed seventh overall amongst the 10 schools competing.

Willey's (So., Shenendehowa HS/Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Willard's (Fr., Cardinal O'Hara HS/Broomall, Pa.) finish earned them All-CACC honors for the 2006 season. The All-CACC Men's Cross Country Team consists of the top 15 finishers in the CACC Championship race. Willey finished fourth overall with a time of 28:34.97. Willard placed eighth overall with a time of 28:54.38. For Willey, this is his second consecutive season earning all conference honors.

The Devils finished the meet with 150 points, 12 behind sixth place Bloomfield College and 21 behind fifth place Goldey Beacom College. Felician College won the meet, repeating as CACC Champions with a score of 48 points.

In addition to Willey and Willard earning All-CACC honors, the Devils were named the winners of the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award, as voted on by the league's 12 coaches.

After Willard crossed the line, USP's next finisher, Nick Barkley (Fr., Mansfield HS/Mansfield, Tex.) crossed the line in 39th place, 4:07 behind Willard with a time of 33:01.42. Rounding out the Devils top five finishers were Mark Cifelli (So., Watchung Hills Regional HS/Gillette, N.J.) and Ryan Pell (Sr., West York HS/York, Pa.). Cifelli finished in 50th place overall with a time of 35:32.46. Pell was 51st overall with a time of 35:41.64.

Rich DiGiacomo (Jr., St. John Neumann HS/Philadelphia, Pa.) was 52nd overall with a time of 35:55.68 and George Strock (Sr., Blue Mountain HS/ Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) rounded out the Devils finishers with a time of 36:47.70 (56th place).

Willey and Willard will compete at the upcoming NCAA East Regionals on November 4, 2006 at Slippery Rock University.
