South Jersey Lynx Press Release

ELIZABETH - South Jersey Lynx are the 2005 New Jersey Division Champions. In a thrilling football game, the Lynx (8-1, 9-1) held on for a 19-8 win over rival New Jersey Terminators (7-2, 8-2) on a chilly night in North Jersey. Coming into this game both teams knew that it would be a battle because of their previous contest which the Lynx won 13-6. It was another great defensive battle. Edwin Diaz opened the scoring when Marty Cross threw a strike and Diaz took the pass and rumbled 70 yards for the score. Ryan Peterson converted the extra point. After a short drive by the Terminators, they had to give the ball back to the Lynx. Fidel Napier took to handoffs up the middle with little room to run and on third down Cross threw anther strip over the shoulder of Diaz who had man coverage. Diaz run under the pass and raced 43 yards to paydirt. The Terminators didn't fold as they drove down the field capped by a 2 yard run. (Conversion successful).

After halftime, defense ruled the third and fourth quarters. A couple turnovers later, the Lynx put together a drive that sealed the game. Napier took the handoff and pushed his way in from the 3 yardline.
