Athlete Spotlight: Danielle Thomas

Danielle Thomas has been playing tennis since she was about 6 years old. This 7th grader at Oceanville Middle School tells us that her interest in tennis grows stronger every year as she successfully competes in local tournaments and hopes to continue adding trophies to her growing collection.

Time outside of tennis and school is spent with friends hanging out at a pizza parlor in Smithville and watching fun movies like "Face Off" and television shows like her favorite, "Friends". Lately, Danielle finds her tastes changing in many areas like music and food. She likes the sounds of Brittany Spears and not too long ago named ice cream as her favorite food, but recently finds that she can't get enough of spagetti.

As for future plans, Danielle thinks it would be neat to go to college and study to become a lawyer and a veterinarian. She likes working with people and animals and is getting a little practice with her pet dog Ginger, a very active 2 year old mix of Labrador Retriever and Cocker Spaniel.

When asked what special person has influenced her the most and why, Danielle named Pat Matthews, who is her tennis instructor, and Grandmom.
