Joel Young has played tennis for the past 4 years because he likes the skill, precision and power needed to play. As a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) for the past 2 years, this sophomore at Rancocas Valley High School credits coach Ike Johnson for teaching "tremendous skills and positive thinking."

Joel finds some balance from the intensity of sports competition by participating in the music and drama programs in school. He is an accomplished musician and learning the ropes in the technical end of stage production, most recently in a production of "Godspell". His favorite television character is "Xena: Warrior Princess" and finds the recent release "Varsity Blues" to be his favorite movie.

Cross-Country running and Gymnastics help keep him conditioned to compete, and Joel aspires to someday be an Olympic competitor in either the gymnastics or running events.
