High School Baseball:
Console Helps His Own Cause for Haddonfield

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

It must have been a good day when you stepped up at the plate five times and delivered a base hit each and every time. Pitcher, yes, pitcher Andy Console missed the cycle batting at the plate, but he did pick up the 9-6 win for Haddonfield. The Bulldogs would score three runs during their top half of the eighth inning to defeat Audubon by a 9-6 margin in a Colonial Conference competition.

Haddonfield looked to be well on their way of picking up their third victory in a row during their first at bat. Scoring four times looked to a save cushion for Console to cruise to the win, but Audubon would rally. Trailing by a 5-1 score, the Green Wave put together a pair of doubles to tie this game. Haddonfield would score the go ahead run only to see Audubon tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Haddonfield would finally put the game out of reach during the eight inning. Console did not get the home run to complete the cycle, but he did pitch all the innings needed to pick up the win.
