High School Soccer:
Cherry Hill West Lone Goal Enough to Win

Thursday, October 28, 2004

Two Olympic Conference girl's teams from two different divisions met on the soccer field at Camden Catholic trying to determine which the better team was on this day. Cherry Hill West was that visiting team who has been successful in proving they should be the top team in the Patriot Division, and they are. In a defensive battle, the Cougars were able to get one shot past keeper Bridget Mahon who was solid all game. That lone goal was scored by Angie Wilmer giving West the 1-0 decision.

The Cougars have position themselves as the top team in the Patriot Division in front of Shawnee and Triton who both have advanced to the South Jersey Group IV playoffs. Staying ahead of the pack, the Cougars have captured the division title and were looking for more. Keeping their momentum going, West matched Camden Catholic’s intensity and scored the first goal right before the first half ended. The second half was evenly played with neither team able to score. Lindsay Wallin had 9 saves for West while Bridget Mahon saved 15 shots for Camden Catholic.
