There's just over a month away before teams start worrying about the May 15th deadline to qualifying for the state tournament. With the start of a new season, it's always nice to pick up that first victory of the season especially on the first day. It puts a team one step closer in achieving that goal of extending the regular season. With new students making the team, this season will be interesting to watch. Participating in just their second season, the Golden Eagles from Seneca continue to impress in their game against Camden Catholic. The Golden Eagles would pick up the road victory with their 12-5 decision over the Fighting Irish.

There are always some concerns about how well the newer teams will perform each season. With first or second year programs, seniors on the team have only a couple of chances to build up a program. They will have to work quickly in helping players understand the game in order to compete for the title as first or second year seniors. Leading the way for Seneca would be junior Mike Maffei and seniors Kurt Kaiser and Dan Seery. Kaiser would score three goals in Seneca’s win over the Irish. Kevin Rider, Maffei, Greg Flasser and Drew Wineager all scored two goals apiece for the Golden Eagles. Kevin Karc netted two goals for Camden Catholic.
