Patrick Henderson had four goals and an assist and Chris Sabol stopped thirty shots as Cherokee defeated Eastern 7-4 in a SJHSIHL game played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Henderson opened the scoring in the first minute as he stole the puck and beat Manny Rayo, who was starting in place of the injured Dan Myers. Eastern tied the game at 1-1 just over four minutes later as Brian Schellenhammer hit a streaking Tom Fadako in the slot and his blast beat Sabol top shelf.

Henderson gave Cherokee a 2-1 lead as he drilled one home from the blue line with just less than six minutes left in the period. Eastern responded again with twenty five seconds left as Mike Purwin broke in but was beaten by Sabol. Purwin gathered his own rebound and fed Ryan Sullivan who found the back of the net. Cherokee would score three straight goals in the first six minutes to take control as Henderson, Jason Draghum and Sean Zahacewski tallied to make the score 5-2. Eastern closed to within 5-3 as Adam Roy converted a drop pass from Brandon Tunstall.

Henderson once again took control in the waning seconds as he broke in and slid the puck to Daniel Altieri. Altieri's goal made it 6-3 heading into the third period. Henderson and Tunstall exchanged goals in the third period and Cherokee held on for the 7-4 victory.
