High School Ice Hockey: Failed Power Play Leads to Cherry Hill Loss Monday, October 25, 2004 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer Cherry Hill East was unable to capitalize on a two-man advantage for a full two minutes and Cherokee scored four goals in the third period to break open a close game and won going away, 8-2 in high school ice hockey action played at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Trailing just 3-2 with less than five minutes remaining in the second period East went on the power play with a chance to tie and possibly take the lead. But they never got set-up in the offensive zone and failed to generate any shots on goal. Moments after killing the penalties, Patrick McMahon blistered a slap shot from the blue line to put Cherokee up 4-2 heading into the third period. Two goals by Lou Sarcone and two more by McMahon iced the game for Cherokee. Andrew Roth and John Faford scored the East goals.
