Lou Sarcone and Patrick McMahon scored goals on breakaways late in the second period to break a scoreless tie and propel Cherokee to a 4-2 win over previously undefeated Clearview at Hollydell on Friday night. After a scoreless first period, thanks in large part to Bobby Kovarovic in nets for Clearview, Sarcone broke the tie as he was sprung by Steve Sheridan breaking out of the zone with less than five minutes left in the second period.

Moments later McMahon jumped on a loose puck and sped in all alone and his blast beat Kovarovic for a 2-0 lead. Max Sczepkowski scored in the final fifty seconds to put Cherokee up 3-0. Clearview rallied in the final period as Jim Fritz converted on the power play and at the seven-minute mark Mike Sullivan scored on a breakaway to make it 3-2. Matt Loprete iced the game in the final minute putting home a rebound and a 4-2 lead. Cherokee hung on as Clearview pulled the goalie for an extra attacker, but never threatened.
