Patrick McMahon scored with fifty-one seconds left in the game as Cherokee rallied from a 4-2 deficit and defeated Washington Township 5-4 in a battle of two of the best teams in Tier I. Township led most of the game, scoring three goals in the first period as Andrew Rohach, Thomas Dispaldo and Christian Biscardi scored over a seven minute span to give Township a 3-0 lead. Cherokee scored a late goal as Dan Maugeri scored his sixteenth of the season to make it 3-1 after one.

Marco Jordan and McMahon traded goals in the second period, but Township still led 4-2 heading into the final period. Cherokee took control in the third period out-shooting Township 14-5 and scoring three goals. First McMahon cut the lead to 4-3 with Justin Kinniry and Matt Cardillo assisting. Then with just under five minutes left Maugeri tied the game at 4-4 with Scott Weiner and Charles Lotierzo assisting. With the momentum clearly favoring the defending champs, McMahon capped the comeback with his late goal and Cherokee still remains undefeated, with the only blemish a tie against Williamstown.
