By Gary Finigan Holy Cross continues to be a powerhouse in Tier 2 of South Jersey High School Ice Hockey. The Lancers dominated Cherry Hill West in a game at the Coliseum, cruising to a 8-0 victory. John Marino scored four goals to lead the Lancer offensive attack. First period action saw Holy Cross take a 3-0 lead. At the 11:12 mark, John Marino scored on a power play opportunity. Picking up the rebound off a Steve DeNoia shot, Marino lifted a backhander over Cherry Hill West goaltender Brian Morril. The Lancers were relentless on offense, going up 2-0 on another power play goal. With an almost identical play, Brian Holland score high on a backhander from the right slot. Justin Sadowski and John Zdrojewski assisted on the goal. John Marino scored again for the Lancers with 1:09 remaining in the period. Working behind the net, Scott Parker passed to Marino in the right circle. Firing a high wrist shot, Marino lit the lamp for a 3-0 Holy Cross lead. In the second period, the Lancers continued to dominate offensively. Scoring in the first minute of play on yet another power play opportunity. In a scramble for the puck in the crease, Steve DeNoia scored to make it 4-0. Frank Lapore and Phil Cordivari assisted on the play. The Lancers went up 5-0 on a Phil Cordivari slap shot, with the assist going to Scott Parker. John Marino picked up his hat trick at the 7:26 mark. Just 10 seconds after Cherry Hill West switched to goalie Bryce Van Arsdalen, Marino rifled a slap shot for the 6-0 lead. John Zdrojewski picked up the lone assist on the goal by winning the draw on the face off. Holy Cross scored it final two goals in the third period. John Zdrojewski picked up his third assist with a pass from behind the net. Taking the puck in the right slot, Frank Lapore fired a wrist shot for the goal. Leading 7-0, John Marino picked up his fourth goal with just 1:50 remaining on a running clock. Scoring an unassisted goal, Marino moved the puck up ice from the defensive blue line.
