Kevin Flowers had two goals and Mike Gumpper had a goal and an assist as Cherry Hill West defeated an undermanned Collingswood team 7-2 in Tier 2 action at Hollydell. Collingswood only dressed six skaters and a goaltender and displayed a lot of stamina and heart in keeping the game as competitive as it was. It seems that there was a homecoming dance at the school that accounted for the team being depleted of its players. But since when does a dance take precedent over a team sport? How many guys were probably saying, "I should have went to the game."

Well for those of us who were there, other than the four goals by West in the first period, this was a very close game. After Flowers opened the scoring, Joe Creek made it 2-0 scoring a power play goal. Ten seconds later Gumpper scored on a break to make it 3-0. In the last minute of the period, Flowers went end-to-end and scored a highlight film goal to increase the West lead to 4-0. Goals by Dennis and Pelliccione made it 6-0 early in the third. Collingswood's Matt Kerth scored twice to cut the deficit to 6-2, but a late goal by Robertson ended any hope of a comeback.
