Cherry Hill West Opens With a Win

It was a game that both teams started out knowing that they could win this game. That's a common feeling when teams play on the first day of the season. So when the Thunderbolts girl's soccer team from Millville traveled to Cherry Hill West to take on the Lady Lions, the Lions did their best to protect their home field advantage. Jen Carey scored the first goal of the game for Cherry Hill West and led at the break by two. The Lions would score twice in the second half and Cherry Hill West opened their season with a 4-0 victory.

Cherry Hill West was able to stay one step ahead of their opponent throughout this game. The Lions offense kept the pressure on keeper Christine Oliver who was able to come up with some big saves. But after Carey gave the Lions a 1-0 lead, Laura Sharp expanded that lead to a two goal advantage at the half. The second half was pretty much the same with West using their speed to control the game. O’Neal and Conte scored the other two goals for the Lions and keeper Emily Besancon was able to preserve the shutout.
