High School Ice Hockey: Cherry Hill West rolls over West Deptford Monday, October 16, 2006 By Mike Costantino SJSports Staff Writer Bret Cybulski, Billy Berenato and DJ Nork each scored two goals as Cherry Hill West defeated West Deptford 8-3 in Tier 2 action played on Monday night at the Skate Zone. Luke DeHart scored twice for West Deptford. West got contributions both on the power play, connecting three times and once scoring a shorthanded goal. Nork got things going in the opening two minutes, with West Deptford already down a man, his quick shot caught Evan Betz off guard and West led 1-0. The with West Deptford down 2 men, Monahan converted a pass from Cybulski for a 2-0 lead, then right before the second penalty expired, Cybulski fed Monahan and the lead was 3-0. West Deptford could not generate much offense and the period ended with Cherry Hill up 3-0. The second period began much the same as the first, Cherry Hill went on the power play and Berenato got into the scoring act with assists going to Bob Sharpe and Nork. West scored twice over the next few minutes and the lead grew to 6-0. West Deptford got some life scoring two goals in the final moments of the period, one by DeHart, to cut the lead to 6-2. But a short-handed goal by Cubulski on a nice pass from Monahan squashed any hopes of a comeback. Dehart and Berenato exchanged goals in the third period to close out the scoring. Photos by Art Redd
