High School Baseball:
Burlington Township Finds another Way to Win

What a difference a year makes? Instead of looking up in the standings, the Falcons’ baseball team is on top of the Burlington County Liberty Division. With most of their victories coming from outside of their division, Burlington Township was looking to pick up another win against the Pirates from Cinnaminson. Both starting pitchers for each team did extremely well on the mound for their team. Eric Gertie only gave up two hits, but it would be Ross Dempsey who would get the win for Falcons. Taking advantage of the situation presented to them, a key double by Tim Stevens knocked in the only run of the game and extend Burlington Township’s winning streak to seven games in a row.

For three full innings, neither team was able to push any runs across the plate. This was a bit unusual for Burlington Township as they have been scoring runs by the bunches. The Falcons’ success included a four game winning streak to start the season and then a loss to Riverside only allowed Township to start up another winning streak. Scoring only one run in this game was their lowest output of the season but good enough to pick up the victory for Dempsey and one more step towards a divisional title.
