Gunnar Fox and Ryan Arnold each scored two goals, Dave and Mike Gooch each added a goal and three assists as Clearview rolled over Washington Township 7-1 in game one of the finals in the SJHSIHL championship. Before a standing room only crowd on Friday night, the first period belonged to Clearview goalie Jared Weisenbach as he turned aside all eighteen shots, constantly frustrating the Township offense. Clearview could only generate three shots in the opening period and thanks to Weisenbach, entered the second period scoreless.

Having survived Township's onslaught in the first, Clearview took the lead it would never relinquish. Dave Gooch stole the puck from behind the net and tucked in an unassisted goal at the three-minute mark to put Clearview ahead 1-0. Just over a minute later, Mike Gooch sent in Fox all alone and his wrister beat Sezchech to put Clearview up 2-0. Prior to the series, one of the keys to this series was discipline. Tonight Coach Sullivan's team was definitely more disciplined than Township as Clearview was given several opportunities on the power play. Arnold and Fox capitalized on two separate power plays and Clearview led 4-0 with just under five minutes left in the second period.

With the huge lead, Clearview did not let up and their next goal was score by pure hustle. Wyatt Fox raced in to beat an icing call and scored to build the lead to 5-0. Thirty seconds later, Arnold scored on a breakaway to cap a six- goal period for Clearview. Buddy Anderson scored Township's lone goal midway through the final period. Mike Gooch would add a shorthanded goal in the final eight seconds. With the 7-1 win, Clearview is one win away from repeating as league champs. Game 2 is scheduled for Monday night at Hollydell at 7:00.
