Clearview defeated Cherokee 7-1 on Friday at High Ridge and will now move on to play Eastern on Monday night at Voorhees. In order to win the championship, Clearview must defeat Eastern on Monday and then again on Wednesday. Since Eastern went through the tournament undefeated, they need to just win Monday and be crowned champs. Back to the game…the line of Chris Riggs, Bill Dunbar and Wyatt Fox combined for six goals and eight assists and created scoring chances almost every shift. Dunbar led the way with three goals and Riggs added two. With their power play clicking in the last two games, Clearview took advantage of the extra skater as Riggs put home a rebound of a shot from the point by Nick Vaccarino.

Clearview tied the game as senior defenseman Brandon Gould ripped a shot past goaltender Jason Brown. Cherokee never really got going offensively, and were out-shot 40-19. Riggs again scored on the power play to put Clearview up 2-1. Dave Gooch scored late in the period as he was sent in by Dunbar and wristed a shot into the back of the net. Two goals by Dunbar in the second period put the game out of reach.

Clearview loves to run their offense down low with someone stationed behind the net and Fox hit Dunbar in the slot to make it 4-1. Then Riggs on almost the exact play, hit Dunbar in the slot and he made it 5-1. Fox scored his goal in the third period as he deflected a shot by Vaccarino for a 6-1 lead. Dunbar finished off his night after Riggs was stopped in front as Dunbar jumped on the rebound and completed his hat trick. Should be an interesting match up Monday with Meyers playing outstanding and the RFD line on fire. I have a feeling there will be a game on Wednesday.
