For Clearview, Eight is Enough

Clearview scored eight goals in the first period paving the way to a 9-1 victory over Eastern in the last regular season game for Tier 1. It marked the second consecutive win for Clearview over Eastern, their main threat to winning the championship. The eight goals was a new team record for one period and the second line did a lot of the damage. All are under-classmen which consists of Bill Dunbar, who had three goals and two assists, Wyatt Fox (two goals and two assists) and Chris Riggs who chipped in with a goal and three assists. Senior forward Jon Probe added three goals.

Eastern’s lone goal came from Sean Sullivan on a nice feed from Anthony Orner, which brought Eastern to within 2-1 five minutes into the game. Eastern would have no answer, as they were out-hustled and seem to be back on their heels. During the second period, neither team could get into the flow as a total of twelve penalties were called and most of the time was spent killing penalties.

With the tournament starting next week, there is a good chance these teams will meet again down the road. If they expect to have a chance at the title, Eastern needs to figure out how to stay close going into the third period.
