Chris Riggs and Dave Gooch each scored twice as Clearview defeated Paul VI 6-1 at Voorhees on Monday night. The Eagles played without leading scorer Brett Balco who was sidelined with an injury and really missed his leadership. Freshman goalie Eric Lake was spectacular in goal again for Paul VI as he faced fifty-four shots, many form close in and kept his team in the game. After Gooch scored in the games first minute, as he was left alone in the slot. Eli Facchinei tied the score at 1-1 by utilizing his speed and was sent in by Mike DiGennaro whose quick shot found the net. With Lake playing solid, the Eagles went on the power play at around the six-minute mark with a chance to take the lead. But Nick Vaccarino kept the puck in for Clearview and Wyatt Fox fed Riggs down low and he redirected the puck into the short side and Clearview led 2-1.

In the last two minutes of the period and now with a two-man advantage for ninety-seven seconds, Paul VI had a chance to tie the game and possibly take the lead. However they never really got set up in the offensive zone and right after killing both penalties, Riggs scored again to make it 3-1. Paul VI never really recovered. Clearview kept firing away as they had twenty-four shots in the second period and got goals by Fox and Bill Dunbar to make it 5-1. Gooch closed out the scoring in the third period and ended the season for Paul VI. But for a team with just three seniors, the future looks bright for the Eagles.
