With SAT's on Saturday, most sporting events in High School sports were rescheduled to start in the afternoon. This game had Haddonfield at Delsea at 3 p.m. It was an overcast day and proved to be a very physical game. Both teams were given yellow cards and plenty of restarts. With one minute left in the second half, Haddonfield scored off of a restart to win the game 1-0.

The first half ended at 0-0. Both teams played physical and seemed to have players matching up. Delsea's #22, defender, Dean Minton was matching up with Haddonfield's #10, striker, John Heacock. Also, very involved on restarts for Haddonfield were #23 Rusty Bolger and long thrower #14 Erik Engrissei. For Delsea, defending by #14 Dave Butenewicz and controlling the middle was #10 Tom Corsanico.

In the second half, both teams picked up the pace. This led to an even more physical game and also more offense then in the first half. Delsea's #15 Matt Hardy made a beautiful cross from the left as teammate #16 Tom Porter made a run from the right and headed the ball on goal. Haddonfield's keeper Tim Green came up with a great save to keep the game scoreless. A couple minutes later Green made another big save (one of 11 on the day) off of a corner by Delsea's #15 Hardy. As in most sports, after a big defensive save you often get a great chance to score. Haddonfield's #2 Brendan Oakes deflected a pass to #15 Adam Jones on the right side of the goal. Jones quickly hit the ball with the outside of his right foot, as keeper Andrew Smith came sliding out. The ball, with a lot of spin, went just over the crossbar. Haddonfield's #11 Jeff Blank just missed on a diving header attempt. Minutes later Haddonfield's #10 John Heacock took a pass from #4 Andy Zuroski, but again Delsea's keeper Smith made the big save with Zuroski waiting for the rebound.

As the play went back and forth, Haddonfield's keeper Green made another outstanding save on a header from #15 Matt Hardy, again, off of a cross. Haddonfield moved the ball down the pitch and was awarded a corner kick from the right side. #11 Jeff Blank hit a high ball into the box and teammate #23 Rusty Bolger, moving up from sweeper, went up and headed the ball over the net. With just a little over one minute left, Haddonfield sent a long ball into Delsea's half of the field. Haddonfield's #10 Heacock was taken down by #22 Minton just outside the box. Haddonfield was given a direct kick. As both teams set up, Haddonfield had two players run over the ball. #10 Heacock struck the ball with his left foot, around the left side of the wall to put the ball in the back of the net, giving Haddonfield a 1-0 lead. Delsea did not give up. With 20 seconds left, keeper Green had to come up with another big save to win the game 1-0 and record a shutout.

Both teams played great as Haddonfield improved their record to 8-1-2 and Delsea fell to 5-4.
