Delsea Captures Highland Kickoff Tournament

The soccer season got underway for some of the area schools with the two day Highland Kickoff Tournament at Highland High School in Blackwood. The boy's championship match featured the Delsea Crusaders against the Rancocas Valley Red Devils. The Championship game was a very intense game with most being played at midfield. The Crusaders defeated Rancocas by a 3-2 margin.

Delsea got on the board first. The Crusader's midfielder Eric Reyes scored on a cross from forward Tom Porter. Second half opened up with Rancocas Valley forward Miller scoring on a defensive mistake. Delsea responded forty-two seconds later with a volley goal from midfielder Jason Yurcahk who received a pass from forward Tom Porter. Seven minutes later Delsea got their third goal when midfielder Frankie Borelli received a great pass from forward Kevin Cunningham. Rancocas Valley's Miller scored his second of the night from Dovie.

Keeper Andy Baus (Delsea) had 9 saves including a PK and Rancocas Valley Bordon had 12 saves. Delsea out shot RV 17 to 12.

During the Crusaders semi-final match between the Pennsauken Indians, Delsea used strong goalkeeping and multiple goal scores in their 7 - 0 victory.

The first goal was scored by midfielder Frankie Borelli from a cross from forward Tom Porter. Second goal was scored by forward Tom Porter who volley a cross from Frankie Borelli. Third and fourth goals were scored by forward Kevin Cunningham who was assisted on both goals by midfielder Brian McCann. Fifth goal was scored by midfielder Ryan Ashworth who crossed the ball and received a cross back by midfielder Dan Lomerson. Sixth goal was scored by forward Kevin Cunningham on a thru ball from forward Tom Porter. Final goal was scored by midfielder Frankie Borelli on a penalty kick.

Goalkeepers were Andrew Baus 1st half (8 saves) and Tom Leslie (5 saves). Delsea outshot Pennsauken 23 - 13.
