Dave Warrington had two goals and two assists and Anthony Orner added a goal and two assists as Eastern defeated Clearview 5-1 in the first meeting between two of the top teams in the league. One of the keys to beating Clearview is to take advantage of your power play chances and Eastern had three opportunities in the first period and failed to capitalize. Warrington scored the only goal of the first period on a blast from the blue line through a screen. Early in the second period Eastern found itself with a two-man advantage and needed to capitalize and seize control of the game.

Warrington converted a pass from Orner to put Eastern up 2-0 and Orner converted a feed from Warrington twenty seconds later as Eastern scored two power play goals and increased their lead to 3-0. With Danny Meyers playing solid in nets, a three-goal lead seemed pretty safe. But Clearview went on the power play midway through the second. Warrington lofted the puck out of the zone and Mike Becker outskated two Clearview defenseman to score a shorthanded goal and give Eastern a 4-0 lead. Eastern scored its third power play goal with just over six minutes remaining in the game as Brian Schellenhamer made it 5-0. Ryan Arnold spoiled the shutout as he scored for Clearview to make the final 5-1.
