Bryan Williams stopped thirty-seven shots while Rory Levenson and Dan Tavana each scored three goals as Eastern ended Washington Townships' JVA season with a 7-1 victory in the opening round of the playoffs. Tavana opened the scoring in the games first minute as his shot went through the five hole and Eastern led 1-0. After Williams stoned Townships' Chris Keyser on a breakaway, Paul Gainer blasted a shot just inside the circle and Eastern had a 2-0 lead. Levenson made it 3-0, scoring on a breakaway, right after serving a penalty and Eastern led 3-0 heading into the second period.

The period started with Township having a two-man-advantage for sixty-five seconds, but instead of capitalizing, Levenson scored on a short-handed breakaway to give Eastern a 4-0 lead. Meanwhile Williams kept frustrating Township robbing Fred Brewer on three separate occasions and stoning Tom Philippi on a breakaway. Late in the period Levenson and Tavana broke in and Levenson slid the puck to Tavana and his goal gave Eastern a 5-0 lead. Williams stopped all sixteen shots in the period. The only question was if he would get the shutout. But three minutes into the third on a screen shot from the point, Townships' Tony Conchada found the back of the net to spoil the shutout. Tavana added two goals as Eastern advances with the 7-1 win.
