Anthony Orner broke a 2-2 tie with five minutes left in the game and Danny Meyer's play in goal was exactly what Eastern needed to defeat Clearview for the first time this season, 3-2 in tournament action in Vineland. After a scoreless first period, Clearview scored a power play goal as Bill Dunbar and Jon Probe set up Tom Fritz whose slap shot from the point made it 1-0. Eastern came back moments later as Sean Sullivan broke in all-alone and tied the score at 1-1. Brandon Tunstall gave Eastern the lead at 2-1 as he used the defenseman as a screen as he was skating across the slot and shot the puck along the ice. Clearview had some quality scoring chances, including one by Dave Gooch but Meyers stoned him. Later in the period Clearview scored its second power play goal as Nick Vacarino threaded a pass from behind the net to Gooch and he was able to find the long side and we were tied at 2-2 after two.

Both teams took minimal chances in the third period, waiting for that one break. As he has done most of the season when his team has needed a goal, Orner responded and tonight was no exception. After being skated off the puck, he skated around the net and fired a quick shot that somehow found the net and Eastern led 3-2. Clearview went on the power play in the games final minutes, but Meyers made a big stop in the slot and secured the win. Eastern will now play Cherokee at Voorhees on Monday March 3rd.
