Eastern erupted for six goals in the second period and breezed by Rancocas Valley 10-2 in Tier 1 action at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Anthony Orner led the Viking attack with three goals and three assists and Brandon Tunstall, Rich Demonte and Anthony DeFino each added two goals. Jeff Sporer scored both Rancocas goals. Orner scored the only two goals of the first period, the second one with four seconds left in the period as the Vikings converted a 4-on-1 break.

After Sporer cut the lead to 2-1 in the early stages of the second period, Eastern responded quickly. First Demonte blasted a shot from the circle to make it 3-1. Then on the power play, Sean Sullivan fed a pass from the corner right to Orner in front and he re-directed the puck into the net for a 4-1 lead. Defino then went in on a short-handed breakaway and after mishandling the puck, let one fly from the right circle and found the net for a 5-1 lead.

Rancocas started to generate some offense, but goaltender Brian Williams made several key stops, some from point-blank range to help Eastern maintain their lead. Demonte, Tunstall and DeFino also scored in the period and the Vikings led 8-2 after two. The game was also played with only one referee, Mark, who did a nice job covering both sides of the ice.
