Strong goaltending, speed and good defense were all on display at the Skate Zone as Eastern defeated Cherokee 5-1. Sean Sullivan scored twice and defenseman Rich DeMonte added a goal and an assist to go along with playing a strong game defensively. Dan Myers continues to impress as he had another strong outing, losing his shutout in the games final minute. Cherokee, now coached by a former assistant from Eastern Coach Steve, also received a strong effort in nets from Casolaro, who kept the Vikings off the board in the first period until the final minute.

Mike Kondrola kept the puck in along the boards and found Anthony Orner in the right corner. Orner deflected the puck to Sullivan who then skated out in front of the net and lifted a shot under the crossbar, for a 1-0 lead. However seconds later with Sullivan in the box with a rare penalty, DeMonte picked up a loose puck at the blue line and skated in and his quick shot just beat the horn at the end of the period and Eastern led 2-0. The second period belonged to Myers as he stopped all eighteen shots, and Eastern added another short-handed goal as speedster Joey Johnston was sent in by DeMonte and his blast put Eastern up 3-0 after two periods. Goals by Anthony DeFino and Sullivan closed out the scoring for Eastern. Pat McMahon scored on a breakaway to spoil Myers shutout.
