Congratulations to the Edgewood Girls Shuttle Hurdle team of Y'vette Murry, a senior, Pamela Richardson, a sophomore, Kierra Clemons, a junior, and Dennean Davis, a senior, for BREAKING the National Shuttle Record with a time of 59.00 seconds. William Penn High School of Philadelphia held the old record, from 1997, with a time of 59.2. The race was held at the East Coast Relays in Morristown, NJ.

"This is a once in a lifetime event for a coach" said Coach Bob Ayers. In the race, Edgewood defeated rival Pennsauken (59.85 time) in what Ayers declared "a great race". Coach Ayers said, "We (Edgewood) and Pennsauken may be the two top teams in the nation. They push us and we push them to be the best." The race ended with Dennean Davis, back from an injury, crossing the line in a split of 15.0 seconds. Y'vette Murry ran the fastest split with a time of 14.3 seconds. Y'vette Murry and Pamela Richardson are ranked the number 2 and number 3 top hurdlers in the State of New Jersey.

Also, in the 3x400 relay hurdles, Edgewood's team of Y'vette Murry, Pamela Richardson and Saudia Saleen ran the fastest time, setting the New Jersey state record with a time of 3:12:95. They are waiting to see if it is also a national record. Their time was almost 5 seconds faster than the second place team. Again, Y'vette Murry ran the fastest split with a time of 1:02.2.
