It was a great day for the fans at Eagles' Stadium on Thanksgiving Day when as the Edgewood Eagles (10-1) defeated the cross-town rival Overbrook Rams by a score of 14 - 8 in what was billed as the "Turkey Bowl" by the two schools. This game brought back old times were it was standing room only around the field.

Everyone knew it was going to be a tough game but no one knew just how tough. The coaching staffs of both schools scouted their opponents and were ready for the big game. Both coaches--Harvey Miller of Overbrook and Derryk Sellers of Edgewood felt it was the team that didn't make any mistakes or made the least mistakes would take home the trophy that went to the winning team.

The Rams, who led the series 24 - 9 - 4 going into the game, scored early in the first period on an Eagles' fumble. From the Edgewood three yard line, quarterback Jibreel Ameen kept the ball and scored. The team added two more points when Victor Cobbs caught a pass for the two-point conversion. For the next period of play, the teams remained scoreless even though both made a few turnovers.

Late in the third period, the Eagles came alive thanks to the efforts of quarterback Nick Rosetti and backs Brandon Osborne and Dennis Davis. Rosetti got things moving when, faced with third down and long from his own 24 yard line, ran the ball twenty-five yards for the first down. On the next play, Rosetti handed off to Davis who broke away from the pack and scored six for the Eagles on a fifty yard run. He then tied the score by scoring with a two point conversion.

In the final period, following two big penalties against Overbrook, Edgewood moved the ball to the Ram's fifteen yard line. Davis then took the ball and ran for the score. The extra point conversion pass failed.

When time ran out, the Eagles of Edgewood won not only their big game against Overbrook, but their last game ever.
