The Edgewood Girl's soccer team is looking to improve with a new head coach. His name is Bill Pesda. The Lady Eagles will have eight returning players from last year's squad and one returning after two years from an injury. Coach Pesda believes that Kori Goerlitz, a senior, will be returning after knee surgery last year and should resume her All Conference forward form from 1998. Kori will be one of the tri-captains this year. The other two captains are Denise Prosser, a senior, goal keeper, and 1999 All South Jersey Third team player, and Emily Green, a senior, mid -fielder, and 1999 Second team All Conference player. Some of the other returning players are Corey Smith, Junior, mid-fielder, a 1999 Second team All Conference player, Casey Spila, Junior, mid-fielder, Chelsea Sass, Sophomore, mid-fielder, Jacqueline Zvanya, Sophomore, mid-fielder, Lauren Liberto, Junior, defender, a Second team All Conference player and Theresa Pasquarello, Senior, defender. "Chelsea Sass should have been an All Conference player last year," said Coach Pesda, "and she should be one this year." Other players that should see some time playing Varsity are Freshmen Emily McNamara, Jillian Prosser and Caitlin Uff.

The Lady Eagles opened against Shawnee on September 8th and lost 7-0, but then tied Haddon Heights 1-1 on September 11th.

Coach Pesda is a graduate of Edgewood. Last year, he was an assistant Women's Coach at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. As a player at Edgewood, Bill was a captain and All Conference Mid-fielder/Forward during the 1993-1997 seasons. He then went on to play at Stockton College and then coaching at Rutgers while earning a Master's degree in Politics.
