This late in the season, it was special for two undefeated teams from the same division to meet on the playing field to take a big step towards first place. There was another reason this was a special game between Florence and Burlington City. Both of these teams had a winning streak they were trying to extend. Florence was the team that unknowingly decided this low scoring, defensive battle in the first quarter. The Flashes posted a 10-0 lead and held onto it for the remainder of the game.

It has been done before but it’s always special when your team is in the spotlight as the team looking for its 18 straight victory. Florence and the Blue Devils were tied at the top of the Freedom Division winning their first 5 games of this year’s schedule. Florence was looking to continue their success building on last year’s Central Group 1 title to go with division champs.

Florence jumped ahead on a field goal by Abree Jones from 30 yards out. Those points were hugh when looking how the rest of this game turned out. Jones added a rush touchdown late in the first quarter when he finished the Flashes scoring drive. His two yard scored pushed the lead to 10-0. Both teams had excellent chances to score throughout the final three quarters, but the defense came up big causing turnovers or stalling drives.
