High School Softball:
The Season Continues For Haddon Heights

Monday, May 15, 2006

With so much focus on teams qualifying for the playoffs, coaches whose teams that have fallen short of the requirements must continue to motivate their players and achieve a different set of goals. For Haddon Heights and Gateway, their chance to move into the state tournament may be over but the regular season must go on. The Lady Garnets finally ended their two game losing streak when they traveled to Gateway to participate in an Colonial Conference softball game. Bobbi Padget would pitch her way to an 8-1 victory for Haddon Heights giving up just two hits.

Both of these teams played a key role this past week. West Deptford needed a win over the Gators from Gateway to qualify for the post season and they did so. Haddon Heights’ loss to Haddon Township this past Friday knocked the Garnets out of the playoffs. Both Gateway and Haddon Heights would use today’s game to forget about the past. It would be a close game up until the fourth inning when the Garnets broke a one all tie by scoring a single run and then tact on five more runs during the top of the fifth inning. That would be more than enough runs for Padget to pick up the victory for Haddon Heights.
